On 22 Feb 2016, with collaboration with Department of International Education and Lifelong Learning (IELL), the TEL-Hub organised a sharing session mainly presented by Dr. PARK, Jae Hyung and Dr. SIN, Wai Lam, William. They are the two blended learning ambassadors on the Blended / Online Learning & Teaching (BOLT) project.
Dr. Park shared his experience using the Moodle Participation Forum and shared Google documents to facilitate his teaching and enhance student engagement. Dr Park demonstrated how he used a shared Google document to facilitate online discussion with his students. Following this, he shared his experience of using Participation Forums on Moodle to create the blended quali-quanti assessment to support a post-graduate course with about 20 students. He also shared his use of Gradebook on Moodle to organise his grading, keep his students apprised of their formative assessment marks, and alleviate his burden of course assessment.
Dr. Sin, accompanied by his online teaching assistant and his third year student, shared their perspectives and experiences of using forums to host online discussions in a General Education course including 40 undergraduate students.
The demonstration of using the shared Google document, and the students’ sharing of her experience with forums, led to an active discussion among the session participants about their own teaching experiences with blended learning.
